Children born in winter are more likely to become geniuses, scientists confirm
According to neuroscientists, children born in winter have more white matter in their brains and are more likely to achieve outstanding results, including high IQ and Nobel Prizes.
According to neuroscientists, January babies have 30% more white matter in their brains—their third trimester falls during the darkest months. During this period, the mother's production of melatonin, which accelerates the myelination of neurons, sharply increases. Simply put, the greater the darkness, the faster the brain develops.
This is also reflected in adulthood: about 23% of students entering Harvard are born in January. Overall, children born in winter are more likely to demonstrate strong mathematical and cognitive abilities.
