The first example of the Bugatti Bolide hypercar is to be sold for $6 million (6 photos)
The first example of the Bugatti Bolide hypercar with chassis number 001 will be put up for auction at Gooding Christie’s in August. According to experts, its cost could reach six million dollars. The car is intended exclusively for track use.
The public debut of the Bolide took place exactly two years ago at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Deliveries of cars to customers are just beginning. Therefore, the first example is going to auction with zero mileage and is waiting for its first owner.
With the official starting price of the model at about 4 million euros, the car could go under the hammer for significantly more. Only 40 copies will be made. It was previously announced that they were all sold out in advance.
The Bolide is based on the road-going Bugatti Chiron, but it is a racing car designed for the track. It has a carbon monocoque, an advanced aerodynamic body kit to generate maximum downforce, modified suspension, engine, gearbox and all-wheel drive system. The safety systems are designed in accordance with FIA regulations.
The W16 engine with four turbines develops 1,600 hp at 7,050 rpm. Its working volume is eight liters. The engine provides a top speed of 380 km/h and acceleration to the first hundred in 2.2 seconds. At maximum speed, the Bolide body kit creates downforce twice the curb weight of the hypercar.
