A unique restomod based on a 1957 Lincoln Continental will be put up for auction (18 photos)
A restmod called Cashmere will be up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in January. Havasu Speed built it on the basis of the luxurious 1957 Lincoln Continental Mark II coupe, turning an already rare model into a unique one. How much it is planned to earn for a completely redesigned car is not specified.
Havasu Speed has changed almost all the design components of the coupe. For example, the roof line was lowered by 50 millimeters, which required a complete redo of the glazing. The contours of the trunk with a niche for the spare wheel and the design of the front part have been changed. Door handles and 19-inch wheels, stylized to resemble the caps of the historical original, were made to order. The body was painted in a color from the Bentley palette.
The suspension was made completely independent and equipped with pneumatic elements, and Wilwood power steering and brakes were installed. The interior is trimmed in leather, equipped with a custom dashboard, air conditioning and power windows, as well as an advanced sound system based on Kicker components.
Instead of the standard 300-horsepower 6-liter V8, a five-liter Ford Coyote engine with additional Edelbrock components is installed. The engine output is not called.
When it debuted in 1955, the Continental Mark II was considered Ford's most luxurious model and the most expensive car in the United States. Ford sold the coupe even without using the Lincoln brand - simply as the Continental Mark II. In total, about 3 thousand copies were collected; President Dwight Eisenhower, Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor were among the owners of the coupe.
