On October 8, a 1956 Bentley S-Type Continental will be offered at a private British auction at Bonhams. The car was tentatively valued at between one and a half million pounds sterling, or 120 to 180 million rubles.
The S-Type Continental was equipped with custom-made bodies from various studios. In particular, of the 431 examples produced from 1955 to 1958, 218 received bodywork from Hj Mulliner. One of 26 cars from this company, which were built with left-hand drive, will be put up for auction.
The “Six” with a working volume of 4.9 liters develops 178 hp. Autocar calls the Bentley S-Type Continental the fastest in its class at the time.
The car was originally commissioned by the Peugeot Automobile Society Anonymous for Mr and Mrs JP Peugeot. In 1964, the car was purchased by 34-year-old Helmut Newton. He sold Bentley eight years later.
Despite the mileage of less than 3,000 kilometers, the car has not retained its original interior trim and body paint. So, the coupe left the factory gates painted silver and black. The engine has undergone a complete restoration.
