Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet was shown in Estonia, only instead of actors, the actors were... cars: trucks, excavators, a concrete mixer, buses, vans and others. More than ten real cars took part in the play, and each had its own "character". It seems that this is the only way to drag a man to the theater...
Romeo was played by a MAN truck, and Juliet by a Ford Ranger. There are no dialogues. Emotions and events are conveyed by the movement of the cars, music and light. For example, the duel between Tybalt and Mercutio was shown by two excavators waving buckets.
The cars "kiss", quarrel, fight, one even falls off a cliff - everything is like in Shakespeare's tragedy!
The audience was surprised at how lively the production turned out to be. According to reviews, the show was touching, sincere and emotional.
