Hedgehog stuck in a gate brought to vet along with the gate (2 photos + 1 video)
Early one morning, a resident of Oxfordshire, England, walked outside to find a "ball of prickles" wedged tightly in her garden gate.
It turned out to be a hedgehog that had gotten stuck overnight, leaving the poor creature exhausted and dehydrated by morning. Unable to free the trapped animal herself, the kind-hearted homeowner took a creative approach: she simply unhinged the gate and brought it straight to a veterinary clinic, prickly passenger included.
Clinic staff admitted they had seen their fair share of unusual cases, but nobody had ever brought in a garden gate before. Once freed and examined, the hedgehog was found to have suffered no serious harm. Nevertheless, the patient was kept under observation for a week before being released back into the wild fully recovered.
