The debate about video games is no less heated than the debate about films and books. After all, they are very diverse and every gamer has his own opinion. Over the years of the existence of video games, many masterpieces have been created. And with each new generation, more and more projects appear with amazing graphics, exciting history and interesting gameplay. And it is almost impossible to be unbiased in the matter of compiling any rating. But a Reddit user under the nickname Scdsco decided to take a risk. He decided to analyze the ratings of popular gaming publications that have been released over the past 5 years and create his own rating system. As a result, he got his TOP-19. Let's see who made the list.

It’s clear that such ratings only fuel the problem, because everyone will complain that their favorite game of their youth is not on the list. And in this case, everything depends, perhaps, on age. After all, nostalgia and “duckling syndrome” play a huge role. After all, the pinnacle of game development for an older person would be, for example, the good old “Half-Life” or “Return to Castle Wolfenstein”, “Warcraft II” or “Heroes of Might and Magic III”, “Fallout 2” or “StarCraft”, “Baldur’s” Gate" or "Dune 2000".

The listed games are truly masterpieces and they can be listed for a very long time. And each generation has its own.

Of course, there will always be a generational debate between boomers and zoomers. Like, let the old guys play their “Tetris”, and we will enjoy “nextgen” and all its benefits. And in response, young people will be reproached that earlier games were “with soul” and gave the player a “challenge”. Today, “casuals” can simply press one button and watch an interactive “movie”. And God forbid the FPS drops by even one.

And between these two fires, millennials sit quietly with their favorite “S.T.A.L.K.E.R.”, “The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind,” “The Witcher” and “Mass Effect.”

Oh, the lyrical introduction was a bit long. Tell us in the comments which video games you would call your favorite masterpieces.
