Guy grows corn maze to propose to his beloved (7 photos)

An Ohio farmer has spent months creating a massive corn maze to propose to his girlfriend. Tim Sullivan, 23, began planning the surprise for Caroline Liggett, 24, back in April. Earlier this month, he took her on a helicopter ride over his family's farms in Grove City.

As Caroline soared over the corn fields, she had no idea there was a secret message hidden beneath the 13 acres. It read: "Will you marry me, Caroline?" — framed with floral designs and pumpkins.

Of course, the girl said yes.

"I wanted to do something big that she would never forget," Sullivan told WSYX News. "I'll always remember her reaction."

By June 3, Sullivan, along with fellow farmers and consultants, began planting the corn maze. They used a computerized tractor to create carefully planned rows.

A few weeks later, the message was ready. But there was a new problem. Anyone flying by could see the romantic phrase and take a photo of it. That could ruin the surprise.

“I was really worried about planes and helicopters flying over us. What if they saw us or took a picture?” Sullivan admitted. “Every time I opened the social network, I hoped that the pictures wouldn’t appear and no one would spoil the surprise.”

Luckily, the secret remained a secret.

On August 5, the guy, with an engagement ring in his pocket, made his dream come true. However, Caroline missed the proposal on the first approach, so the pilot made another circle.

"I was amazed," the girl admitted. "I was impressed by how much effort was put into planning this proposal. I knew he would come up with something interesting, but not so complicated."

After landing, Tim dropped to one knee and offered his hand to his beloved.

"It was one of the most exciting experiences of our lives. I thank God every day that I have a best friend and a life partner," the guy said.

Sullivan and his fiancée are cornfield planners. He works for Corteva Agriscience, and she works for competitor WinField United. The couple plans to marry in the summer of 2026.
