Selling Ice Cream Out of the Same Chevrolet Since 1953 (4 photos)
The current owner’s grandfather bought this Chevrolet 3100 brand new back in 1953 and started selling ice cream out of it. Decades later, the truck is still serving the exact same purpose—and kids are still chasing after it.
The owner has preserved old family photos along with documentation for the custom Amerio body. Among the snapshots is a classic print stamped "September 1957," showing the very same truck during the early years of its long career.
According to the owner, when his grandfather marked 50 years of selling ice cream in the local park, a commemorative plaque honoring him and his truck was put up there. The grandson dug through the family archives when it came time to appraise the vehicle for insurance purposes. ![]()
