Electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class Gets a Giant Screen (3 photos)
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the interior of the next-generation C-Class sedan, which will feature an electric drivetrain. The brand's latest models featured the Hyperscreen system—a huge glass panel housing three displays. The battery-powered sedan features a similarly sized, but seamless, screen. The electric car also boasts a new climate control system, especially comfortable seats, and vegan-friendly interior trim. The full premiere of the new C-Class will take place on April 20.
The company hasn't yet specified the diagonal size of the new Hyperscreen, only stating that it features a new matrix backlight technology with 10 million pixels—the screen's brightness can be adjusted individually. Judging from the photos, the electric car's interior will be almost completely devoid of physical buttons. They remain only on the steering wheel and a minimalist panel on the center tunnel. Thus, the front of the sedan's interior is almost entirely copied from the GLC crossover, where the Hyperscreen stretches 39.1 inches diagonally.
It's also possible that the initial images show the electric C-Class with AMG options—this is indicated by the shape of the steering wheel, seats with increased lateral support and integrated headrests, and the black and red Alcantara trim. The seats will have extended adjustment ranges, including four-way lumbar support, massage, and ventilation.
The electric car will be equipped with an innovative climate control system that can warm the interior at 7 degrees below zero twice as fast as in combustion engine vehicles, while consuming half the energy. New measures to combat external noise and vibration are reported, as well as 162 illuminated stars on the large panoramic roof.
