I died for a couple of minutes, and when I came back to life, I gained the ability to heal others with touch (4 photos)
At 19, Chase Skylar DeMaio suffered a heart attack at Langley Air Force Base Hospital in Virginia. An air bubble accidentally entered the U.S. Air Force Academy cadet's IV, stopping his heart for several minutes. He returned to life with a mission to heal others.
According to DeMaio, in 2008, when he was on the brink of death, he felt himself lift off.
"I was watching my body from above when I was spun around like a tornado, surrounded by lights, angels, laughter, and music like bells," the American said in an interview.
He found himself in a stunning garden full of flowers and greenery and saw a man in a robe he immediately recognized as Jesus. He was playing with a three-year-old version of DeMaio.
Jesus had short brown hair and green eyes. They began to communicate wordlessly.
"Jesus turned to me and showed me what life should be like—filled with light, love, and laughter. It was like a reminder that I'd been there before."
The boy needed to return to Earth with a new purpose – to help others.
After waking up, the cadet told no one about this experience, fearing judgment. But later, he realized that the encounter had changed his life.
Demayo discovered the ability to heal with his hands during a retreat for veterans in 2020.
He believes he has the ability to sense the emotions of others and heal both physically and mentally. He experiences peace and tingling in his palms when he prays for the health of others. He has also documented instances of red spots appearing on his hands.
Recently, while sitting on a plane, he felt the presence of Jesus again.
During this spiritual encounter, Jesus advised him to use his gift less, adding, "You can't take on everyone's pain because some people need to go through this experience."
"I hid it for many years to avoid judgment, but now I consider it a gift that has changed my life. I no longer fear death and realize how fragile life is. I continue to communicate with Jesus and the angels, finding peace in the unknown," DeMaio added.
