Rare 2014 Lotus motorcycle without mileage will be put up for auction (12 photos)
In early June, a motorcycle from the British brand Lotus will be auctioned at Sotheby's. In the mid-2010s, the company decided to experiment with creating the first two-wheeled model - the C-01 motorcycle, the circulation of which was only 100 copies. For one of the motorcycles, which has never been used for its intended purpose in 10 years, they plan to earn from 100 to 150 thousand dollars.
Lotus did not manufacture motorcycles itself. A separate company, Lotus Motorcycle, was founded for the project, and the German company Kodewa, specializing in racing prototypes, was responsible for the entire technical part. As a result, the partners got a bike equipped with a 200-horsepower 1.2-liter V-twin with a dry weight of about 180 kg - in full accordance with the fundamental principles of the brand. No stabilizing systems are provided.
Daniel Simon, a designer who is sometimes called a futurist for his unusual work, was brought in to develop the exotic look of the C-01. He created, for example, the famous motorcycles for the film Tron: Legacy and some of the cars for the Avengers franchise. The entire body kit of the bike is made of carbon fiber; buyers were offered a choice of three design options in the style of iconic racing liveries.
The C-01 up for sale is painted to resemble one of them - the black and gold John Player Special. It is known that 10 years ago it cost the buyer almost 140 thousand dollars. The motorcycle is located in Canada. Auctioneers claim that only a small part of the already modest lot of Lotus C-01 has reached North America.
