Maserati spent a year painting the MC20 Roadster. This is what came out of it (8 photos)
Maserati has presented a special version of the MC20 Cielo roadster - Opera d'arte. This is a one-of-a-kind custom-built sports car. Its public debut took place as part of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament, of which the Italian manufacturer has been the main sponsor and automotive partner for three years in a row.
Maserati MC20 Cielo Opera d'arte is the next product of the Fuoriserie personalization division, opened by the brand in 2020. An unnamed client asked to create a special livery for the roadster, inspired by abstract art. As a result, the car received a basic bright blue exterior and interior color with many geometric patterns in different colors.
Almost all body panels, rims, dashboard, and seats have an unusual design. The company says that for the first time they used a certain special technique for applying images, essentially turning the car into an artist’s canvas. The implementation of the project, in which Maserati's signature design studio Centro Stile also participated, took a whole year.
There is no information about technical improvements. This means that the MC20 Cielo, with its electrochromic glass roof and the same butterfly wing doors as the MC20 Coupe, is still powered by the Nettuno's 3.0-liter V6 producing 630 hp. and 730 Nm in combination with an eight-speed “robot” that transmits power to the rear wheels. This roadster reaches 100 km/h in 3 seconds exactly and can accelerate to a maximum of 320 km/h.
