Audi Unveils Record-Breaking Efficient A2 e-tron With Up to 656 km Range (11 Photos)

Audi has fully revealed its new compact MPV, reviving the iconic A2 badge with an "e-tron" suffix to highlight the model's fully electric powertrain. Dubbed the brand's most efficient battery-electric vehicle to date, the uniquely styled five-door hatch will offer four powertrain options and three battery capacities. Order books are set to open this autumn, with prices starting from €38,200 to €51,200.





The entry-level A2 e-tron features a single motor producing 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a 52 kWh battery pack. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and delivers a range of up to 423 kilometers. Stepping up to the mid-tier variant brings a larger 61 kWh battery and boosts power output to 190 hp, cutting the 0–100 km/h time to 7.9 seconds while extending the driving range to 515 kilometers.

The two top-spec trims are equipped with an 84 kWh traction battery. The 231 hp version boasts an impressive range of up to 646 kilometers, while the 326 hp flagship manages 630 kilometers on a single charge—though it compensates by accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, compared to 7.0 seconds for the 231 hp model. The battery chemistry for these high-tier A2s uses nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) cells, whereas lower trims rely on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) units.

The powertrain and chassis electronics offer four distinct drive modes, alongside a regenerative braking system with three selectable presets. Depending on the chosen trim, the compact MPV can be optioned with one of three suspension setups: standard, sport, or adaptive. Available extras include progressive steering, an S line exterior package for a slightly more aggressive stance, and adaptive headlights. The daytime running lights offer three static and one dynamic light signature customization options.

With a 2.77-meter wheelbase, the A2 e-tron provides cargo capacity ranging from 396 to 1,336 liters. The minimalist cabin features Audi's familiar dual-screen setup—combining 11.9-inch and 12.8-inch displays—but sets itself apart with a distinctive floating center console pedestal housing wireless phone chargers and dedicated shortcut buttons.

Depending on the trim level, equipment options include wheels up to 20 inches, a 1.6-square-meter panoramic glass roof, a premium sound system with 7 to 14 speakers, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems engineered to the standards of luxury segment models.
