Mitsuoka Turns Mazda MX-5 Into a 1950s Corvette (4 Photos)

Japanese coachbuilder Mitsuoka, famous for its extravagant retro conversions of modern vehicles, has launched a teaser website for its upcoming LA1 model ahead of its official reveal on November 26. The site offers a first glimpse at the new creation through its initial set of photos.





Judging by the published images, the Mitsuoka LA1 is built on the current-generation Mazda MX-5 roadster. The front and rear ends have been completely redesigned, while the doors, windshield frame, and soft top remain unchanged from the donor car.

Stylistically, the two-door model channels the spirit of the late-1950s Corvette C1. It features custom fenders, a redesigned hood and bumpers, along with dual round headlights, bespoke taillights, and vintage-style wheels.

The Japanese company has yet to disclose technical specs or reveal any interior shots. Orders for the Mitsuoka LA1 will open in Japan on November 27, though pricing has not yet been announced.
