More than a hundred rare cars will be put up for sale at once (43 photos)

Broad Arrow Auction House has announced the sale of a collection of rare cars belonging to the automobile museum of the Academy of Art in San Francisco. It is claimed that more than 100 cars will be put up for auction, but so far only less than a dozen lots have been cataloged, priced from $300,000 to $1.5 million. The sale will take place in February.





According to the description of the future auction, it will feature rarities associated with turning points in the history of the automobile industry. Most of them date back to the period before World War II and several subsequent decades. The Academy of Art management has been collecting the collection for many years.

Among the rarities already named is, for example, a Chrysler Imperial with a LeBaron body from 1933 in excellent condition - the last example of those that were equipped with a windshield divided in half by a metal insert during assembly. The phaeton is estimated in the range of 900 thousand to 1.2 million dollars. From 400 to 600 thousand dollars are planned to be received for a roadster of the little-known British brand Squire, released in 1937 - one of three examples of the Corsica model, assembled after the closure of the company.

Two more cars from the American 1930s were estimated in the range of 300 to 400 thousand - a Packard Twelve 1108 and one of the 11 surviving Marmon Sixteen LeBaron with a huge V16. The highest bidder at the moment (between $1.2 million and $1.5 million) is a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, meticulously restored but not painted in the original, albeit factory, shade.
