A very rare Lamborghini supercar will be put up for auction (8 photos)
A Lamborghini Centenario will be up for auction at RM Sotheby's auction this month in Dubai. This is one of only twenty coupe supercars ever built. In addition, the car has a meager mileage of 112 kilometers. Based on a combination of factors, auctioneers expect to sell the Centenario for between $2 million and $2.5 million.
Lamborghini introduced the Centenario in 2016 as a tribute to the brand's founder and a way to celebrate Ferruccio Lamborghini's 100th birthday. The supercar is based on the Aventador monocoque, although it is very different from the donor model.
A new carbon fiber body design with references to track cars was developed for the Centenario. The supercar was the first Lamborghini to use steering rear wheels. Finally, the limited-edition coupe was equipped with its own version of the 6.5-liter V12, which developed 770 hp. The Centenario is capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in three seconds with a top speed of over 350 km/h.
The example with a matte black body, which will be put up for auction, was assembled in 2017. It is alleged that the supercar has had only one owner all this time, and the kilometers recorded on the odometer were covered during pre-sale tests. Thus, the owner of the rare supercar practically did not use it for its intended purpose.
The Centenario also has an open-body version - only 20 of these were made, and super roadsters also occasionally appear at public auction. For example, in January a copy with a mileage of 71 kilometers was sold - bids reached 3.2 million euros.
