Located about 90 km from Ninh Binh city, Tam Coc is widely considered one of Vietnam's most breathtaking natural wonders.





Tam Coc literally translates to "three caves," referring to Hang Ca, Hang Giua, and Hang Coi.



The picturesque Ngo Dong River meanders through the valley's rice fields, which transform into vibrant shades of green and gold throughout the year.



Visiting the area usually involves a three-hour boat trip along the gentle bends of the Ngo Dong River. The journey begins in Van Lam village and passes through a dramatic landscape dominated by emerald rice paddies and towering karst limestone cliffs.



Without a doubt, Tam Coc's rice fields are its most striking feature. At peak season, they burst with brilliant greens and rich yellows, stretching seamlessly from the riverbank right to the foot of the mountains.







The tour route also passes through three natural caves. The largest measures 125 meters long, with a ceiling rising roughly two meters above the water level.



The boats are typically rowed by one or two local women, who also offer handcrafted embroidery and souvenirs to visitors.
