A limousine based on an old Corvette is to be sold for $98,000 (19 photos)
An unusual 1969 Chevrolet Corvette-based limo has been put up for sale in the US. The iconic coupe has been rebuilt into a four-door sedan with an extended wheelbase, thus resembling a sports limousine. The Corvette's interior and powertrain have also been redesigned. The asking price for the car, with unspecified mileage, is $98,000, comparable to the North American price of a five-door Mercedes-AMG GT.
The seller does not provide any details about the limo's construction process. Judging by the photos, the Chevrolet Corvette has been stretched by adding a center-mounted insert, creating room for a second row of seats. The coupe-turned-sedan received an extra pair of doors and removable roof panels over the passengers' heads.
The factory engine was replaced with a more modern V8 with fuel injection and exhaust pipes routed along the sides, and the suspension now features air springs. The interior now features three displays, including a ceiling-mounted display, a premium audio system, power seats, and leather trim. The steering column features tilt and telescope adjustment, making it especially noteworthy.
