Chinese dumping on European serpentines: BYD brings the 1,000-horsepower Denza convertible to the West (4 photos) (photo)
Chinese auto giant BYD has prepared a sophisticated attack on the European luxury car industry, planning to roll out the production version of its wild Denza Z convertible as early as July 2026. Remarkably, the company's bosses have decided to completely ignore their home market, where open-top cars are not popular with the local public, and are bringing the new model straight to Europe, under the noses of local brands. In terms of its technical prowess, this electric monster unceremoniously puts the latest Ferrari 12Cilindri to shame: Chinese engineers have packed a herd of 1,000 horsepower under the hood, allowing it to reach 60 mph in a measly two seconds. At the same time, BYD plans to crush its European competitors with their favorite weapon – a price tag that will be approximately five times lower than Italian and German supercars. While experts calculate future duties and predict a European price of around 12-15 million rubles versus a modest 10 million at home, traditional brands can only frantically rewrite their marketing strategies.
