BYD introduced the electric supercar Yangwang U7 for a million yuan (4 photos)
The Chinese concern BYD has published the first images of the third model from the premium Yangwang line. The sedan received the U7 index. It is expected that it will be equipped with a four-engine power plant with a capacity of more than a thousand horsepower, and the price of commercial vehicles will fluctuate around a million yuan (about 140 thousand dollars).
The photo clearly shows that the exterior of the U7 is designed in the same style as the exterior of the U9 supercar: the coupe and sedan have very similar head optics and the contours of the front wheel arches. At the same time, the hood of the four-door looks more restrained, the sides are equipped with characteristic stampings, and the rear is almost rectangular.
BYD previously promised that the U7 will be the most aerodynamic sedan in the world. The electric car was promised an aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.195, which is indeed better than that of European competitors. However, while preparing the U7 for its debut, Xiaomi managed to come out with its new product, and its SU7 received the same indicator.
It is expected that the sedan will share the highly efficient e4 platform with other models in the Yangwang line, but in terms of power consumption it will be the most modest. According to preliminary data, the U7 will enter the market as a series hybrid - electric motors will complement the conventional internal combustion engine as an electricity generator. A power plant of a similar configuration is already available in the U8 SUV.
The start date for sales has not yet been announced, and the sudden publication of the first images is explained by Chinese media as the manufacturer’s desire to get ahead of the local Ministry of Industry. The deadline for the publication of the next certification data is approaching, and BYD chose to begin declassifying the new product on its own, rather than relying on ministerial photographers.
