Aston Martin showed the fastest convertible in the world (23 photos)
Aston Martin has unveiled an open version of the Vanquish grand tourer with the traditional name Volante. The new model retains the same V12 as the coupe, which allowed the company to call it both the most powerful and fastest front-engine convertible in the world. Deliveries of the Vanquish Volante will start in the third quarter of this year. 
Aston Martin said that there are no technical differences between the coupe and convertible, except for the roof. The roof can be folded in 14 seconds and opened in 16, and all this at a speed of up to 50 km/ h. At the same time, in terms of noise insulation, the open Aston Martin is no different from the version with a fixed top.
The Aston Martin Vanquish Volante is equipped with a 5.2-liter V12 with twin turbocharging. The engine develops 835 hp and 1000 Nm and works with an 8-speed ZF automatic. Due to the folding roof mechanism, the convertible turned out to be 106 kg heavier than the coupe, but the dynamic characteristics of the Volante deteriorated slightly. It will accelerate to 100 km/ h in 3.4 seconds with a maximum speed of 344 km/ h. The coupe's indicators are 3.3 seconds and 345 km/ h.
The convertible is equipped with adaptive Bilstein DTX shock absorbers with original settings, carbon-ceramic brakes with discs measuring 410 mm in front and 360 mm in the rear, and Pirelli tires with unique characteristics. The interior will feature a media system with two 10.25-inch displays, 15 Bowers & Wilkins speakers, and trim of the customer's choice. Carbon-framed sports seats are optionally available.
The company does not name the prices for the Vanquish Volante, but the convertible will probably be more expensive than the coupe, which is estimated at the equivalent of 400 thousand euros. Aston Martin announced at the premiere of the coupe that the production volume of Vanquish in both body types will not exceed 1,000 units per year.
