A previously unknown octopus the size of a golf ball was found off the coast of the Galapagos
Scientists have announced the discovery of a new species of deep-sea octopus, discovered near the Galapagos Islands at a depth of approximately 1,770 meters. This unusual creature immediately attracted the attention of researchers with its bright blue coloring and tiny size—it was roughly the size of a golf ball. The creature was recovered during a deep-sea expedition, after which specialists conducted a detailed analysis of its body structure, tentacles, and genetic characteristics. Ultimately, the experts confirmed that modern science had never encountered such a species. The researchers note that the deep-sea regions of the Pacific Ocean remain some of the least explored places on the planet. And discoveries like these only serve to highlight how many unknown creatures still lurk in the vast depths of the world's oceans.
