Spectacular design, but controversial essence: Brabus and DAB Motors showed brightly colored electric bikes in Milan (8 photos)
The collaboration between Brabus and DAB Motors, unveiled at Milan Design Week, left a mixed impression – though the new models' appearance was certainly eye-catching. The partners unveiled three electric motorcycles, all based on the DAB 1a model. They share Brabus's signature approach to style: an aggressive and distinctive design with a wide range of colors, from classic red to purple, peach, and cream.
However, behind the bright exterior lies more controversial specifications. Unexpectedly for fans of a brand known for its powerful designs, the studio focused on the concept of "perfect urban transport." In practice, this resulted in rather modest performance figures: a limited range of 150 km and a top speed of 120 km/h.
Practicality also raises questions. The bike is suitable for short trips around town—say, from a coffee shop to the office—but its ergonomics may prove less comfortable in more challenging urban conditions.
As a result, the new model looks more like a design object than a versatile means of transportation. These motorcycles could easily find a place in collections or at exhibitions, but are unlikely to become a truly mass-market urban solution.
