A member of the royal family known as the "sleeping prince" has died in Dubai. He spent more than 20 years in a coma. All this time, the prince's father hoped that he would wake up. The full name of the deceased is Alwaleed bin Khaled Talal al Saud.

Alwaleed was born in 1990. He was the eldest son of another prince, a prominent member of the dynasty, Khaled bin Talal. When Alwaleed was a teenager, he was sent to study at the London Military Academy. There, in 2005, he was in a serious car accident. The prince suffered severe brain injuries. He was only 15 years old at the time.

The prince was treated by the best doctors from the US and Spain. However, he never regained consciousness. Doctors said that he had no chance of waking up, but his father did not want to believe it. For more than 20 years, he paid for the best medical care for his son. His relatives visited him, spent holidays with him and talked to him. They were inspired by Al-Waleed's involuntary movements: for example, several years ago, his hand was rumored to have twitched.

"His father, Prince Khaled, publicly rejected suggestions to turn off life support, steadfastly believing in divine healing. The family shared videos of the prince barely reacting to the recitation of the Quran, drawing sympathy and admiration from the public."

On July 19, it was reported that the prince had died in hospital. He has long been known both in the East and around the world as the "sleeping prince." This story has become a symbol of endless paternal love, patience and hope. Visitors often came to the prince's hospital room, they prayed and expressed their support for the royal family.

Al-Waleed was 36 years old. His father told about his son's death. He titled the post with the sad news: "My paradise." Public memorial prayers will be held in his memory in the country.

"With faith in God's will and destiny, with great sadness and sorrow, we mourn our dear son, may Allah have mercy on him. "Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him we will return," wrote Khaled bin Talal.
