Unique Mercedes W123 AMG sold for $138,000 (5 photos)
In the USA, Bonhams sold a 1979 Mercedes-Benz W123 station wagon. $138,000 was paid for the unremarkable, at first glance, car. This is reported by Focus.
The fact is that an extremely rare Mercedes 500 TE AMG left the hammer. Such station wagons were produced in few units, because at the end of the 70s, the AMG company still produced cars in small batches.
The Mercedes 500 TE AMG station wagon was equipped with a 5.2-liter injection V8 with a capacity of 300 hp. It is paired with a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The suspension has also been updated and larger disc brakes on all wheels have been installed.
It is interesting that the charged version looks not much different from the standard Mercedes W123. The station wagon is somewhat understated, received a modest body kit, a small rear spoiler and BBS wheels. Twin exhaust pipes are visible from the rear.
The interior of the Mercedes 500 TE AMG is decorated with red and black leather and wood. A sports steering wheel and seats are also installed.
The Mercedes W123 station wagon is quite well preserved. The mileage of the car in 45 years is only 82.9 thousand km.
