The last Mercedes-Benz 300 SL "gull wing" will be auctioned off (19 photos)
In Las Vegas on November 22, one of the most remarkable, according to auctioneers, examples of the iconic Mercedes-Benz 300 SL will go under the hammer. The last Gullwing in history will be put up for auction - this is the last car in the series assembled and delivered to the buyer. Among other advantages of the car are the small number of owners and excellent condition.
Mercedes-Benz produced the 300 SL coupe from 1954 to 1957. In total, about 1.4 thousand units were assembled, and the last one rolled off the assembly line on May 15, 1957. Given its status, the car was used as a show car for several months - it was shown at various events, and it only went on sale in September.
It is claimed that in almost 70 years of existence, the 300 SL has only had four owners. The last owner has owned the rarity for a quarter of a century. The auction house emphasizes that the coupe still retains the factory engine, transmission and chassis, and the body and interior design correspond to the original - the 300 SL now looks exactly the same as when the assembly was completed.
The final example of the iconic model is expected to sell for between 2.5 and 3.5 million dollars. However, it is possible that the car will actually be more expensive.
