Racing Mercedes-Benz CLK LM with access to public roads put up for sale (19 photos)
One of only four listed for sale in the UK ever built Mercedes-Benz CLK LM and the only public roads. A couple of years ago, a supercar completely restored. This circumstance, combined with the rarity of the models may well cost an eight-figure sum.
Place in world motorsport history Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR took not only due to outstanding for the late 1990s technical characteristics, but also a huge number of titles. Modification CLK LM appeared at the supercar in 1998. Designed for racing endurance, most notably at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This version was modified for long straight lines aerodynamics, as well as another engine. The company's engineers considered that the regular 620-horsepower V12 may not withstand the daily race, and used a 6-liter V8 for 612 forces on the CLK LM. At Le Mans supercar debuted extremely unsuccessfully, but in the FIA GT races of the 1998 season, two the factory cars were ranked first and second six times. They say that this achievement is even recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
The copy put up for sale did not participate in races - it built as a test chassis and at the end of 1998 sold to side. For many years it was kept by a Japanese collector, and in 2013 the car was transported to France.
The current owner purchased it four years later, and in 2021 paid for the adaptation of a supercar for ordinary roads. How comfortable to ride such a monster through the streets is not specified.
