A sports car with a strange appearance is put up for sale (18 photos)
At the online auction Catawiki, bidding is underway for an unusual example of the Caterham CSR 200 sports car. Initially, this model was sold as a minimalist roadster with a vintage design, but the Swiss studio Helvetic Motor Company developed a unique closed body for it. Auctioneers expect that the sports car will change its owner for an amount of 40 to 50 thousand euros; a week before the end of the auction, they offer 28 thousand for the coupe.
The designer of the Sauber formula team took part in the development of the body. New panels are made of fiberglass and carbon fiber: the sports car with its own name CSR 200 GT has a completely new design of the front and rear, extended wheel arches and an enclosed cabin, vaguely reminiscent of a golf cart in design. The doors open together with the roof parts.
The interior has also been redesigned, with a new Alcantara fascia and a custom console with metal switches.
The power unit remained unchanged. The sports car is powered by a 2.3-liter Ford four, modified by Cosworth and developing about 200 horsepower.
A 2009 car was used as a donor for the homemade product; the CSR 200 GT was built in 2013. At the same time, to date, the chassis mileage is only 9.5 thousand kilometers. Auctioneers clarify that all changes are legalized.
