An exact copy of the legendary rally Lancia Stratos is being sold at auction (45 photos)
At the Cars&Bids auction, there is bidding for a Lancia Stratos, which looks like the real thing, but is also a 100% replica. The coupe was developed by LB Specialist Cars, formerly known as Lister Bell. One of the highest quality copies of the iconic rally car is now offered for 55 thousand dollars, but there is still time before the end of the auction and everything can change.
The Lister Bell replica, sold under the STR designation, was based on a custom space frame chassis, double wishbone suspension and fiberglass body panels. The authentic design was complemented by an ascetic interior with bucket seats and four-point seat belts.
The example for sale has analog instruments from a Fiat 124, air conditioning in need of repair, a navigation system and a rear view camera. The interior is trimmed with Alcantara.
The sports car is equipped with a three-liter V6 of Italian origin - according to some sources, from Alfa Romeo 164. The seller assures that the engine was installed quite recently, while the total mileage of the sports car is unknown. The car was purchased as a kit of parts for self-assembly back in 2013, but the owner completed its construction only in 2017. We managed to register the replica: thus, the copy of Lancia Stratos has the right to drive on public roads.
The original Lancia Stratos are priced noticeably more expensive. One of the 492 road cars assembled at Lancia was put up for auction last fall with hopes of raising up to 700 thousand Swiss francs (almost $800 thousand).
