A dog that went missing in Colorado in 2020 was recently found on the streets of New Mexico. Host Benjamin Baxter and Patches are finally reunited.
Benjamin brought home a puppy named Patches 10 years ago and the two became inseparable friends.
In 2020, the American got a new job in Nebraska, and he had to temporarily leave his pet with friends. While the man was looking for a place to stay with the animal, the dog ran away.
"We traveled all over the country together. So it wasn't uncommon for her to run away, chasing butterflies or chasing rabbits, but she always came home," Baxter said.
But this time everything was different.
"On the seventh day I realized I would never find my dog."
However, four years later, he was informed that Patches was at the Animal Rescue Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Local animal control officers found her on the streets of Anthony and brought her to the shelter.
Veterinarians checked for a microchip and found information about Baxter.
"They sent me pictures of her. And I thought, 'That's my dog.' For the last four years I thought she was probably dead. I can't tell you how stunned I was."
Patches has come a long way, and they were reunited on Sunday.
“I don’t like to cry. But, you know, I teared up when I saw my dog again,” Benjamin admitted.
