Almost eternal music from “Musical undertakers” (4 photos)
Vinyl records are classic, retro, nostalgic. Creative guys from Southampton (Britain) have come up with a way to preserve especially warm and touching memories with their help.
Employees at Wessex Vale Crematorium, as reported by The Sun, have added one more service to the list of services offered. Unusual. Guys who call themselves "Musical Morticians" make vinyl records with the addition of a particle of the ashes of the cremated deceased.
Company owner Jason Leach recommended the new service as follows:
We have developed a unique process that allows a small amount of a loved one's ashes to be pressed into real vinyl records, creating an audiovisual memorial.
At the preliminary stage, the content of the record is discussed. The recording duration is 18 minutes on each side. Since selection is often a collaborative process, crematorium staff have already concluded that the most popular are voice messages and messages left on answering machines, as well as recording special moments and conversations with loved ones.
If desired, the envelope can be decorated with photographs of the deceased. Creating a record with a particle of ashes is not a cheap pleasure and will cost the customer £1,490.
Currently, ordering is only available to Southampton residents. But given the demand for the service of creating records with ashes, Wessex-Vale employees do not rule out expanding their geographic presence and entering the global market.
