In mid-March, it became known that BMW plans to unveil the fifth-generation X5 crossover in the summer of 2026. Today, the first photos of the new model, taken at a closed presentation, leaked online. The images were published on the X social network.
The photos suggest that the new X5 is largely similar to the more compact iX3, which debuted in September 2025. Both SUVs adopt the new Neue Klasse styling, with small vertical kidney grilles equipped with contour lighting, muscular wheel arches, and fairly narrow LED taillights that stretch almost the entire width of the rear. The X5's rear lighting, however, appears more compact and features a different lighting pattern.
Details about the X5's technical specifications are still scarce, but it is already known that five powertrain options are being developed for the model, including plug-in hybrids, fully electric variants, and... hydrogen-powered (FCEV). ![]()
