A Norwegian biathlete won bronze at the Olympics and admitted to cheating
Biathlete Sturla Holm Laegreid publicly confessed to cheating on his girlfriend after winning a bronze medal at the Winter Olympics.
The athlete won a bronze medal at the Milan Olympics, and during a press interview, apparently overcome with emotion, he unexpectedly revealed his girlfriend's infidelity. The biathlete called the breakup the loss of his most important "gold medal."
"There's one person who might not be watching [the broadcast] today. Six months ago, I met the love of my life. The most beautiful, most wonderful person in the world. And three months ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life and cheated on her," the athlete said after finishing the 20-kilometer race, according to NRK.
Laegreid later said she wasn't ready to forgive him, despite his "blatant audacity."
"It's hard to forgive. Even after declaring my love to the whole world. I didn't choose to be in this situation, and it's hard. We were in touch, and he knows my opinion," the woman told the Norwegian newspaper VG.
