Panic in a puddle: A fire brigade "rescues" a woman stuck in shallow water (4 photos + 1 video)
In the video, a firefighter throws a rope to a motorist stuck on a flooded road. Social media users mocked the woman for needing to be rescued from the "puddle."
The firefighter throws the "drowning woman" a rope with a fluorescent float. The woman desperately clings to it and opens the car door. The water is just below her knees, and she easily walks ashore.
The video went viral on social media.
"An extremely awkward situation for both sides," wrote one viewer, while another added, "Humanity is doomed."
A third joked, "I can't tell what's worse: that she was rescued this way, or that the firefighters actually wore life jackets while trying to pull her out of the puddle?"
Some wondered why she couldn't cope without rescuers, while others suggested it was a "comedic skit." However, many were outraged and demanded that the driver reimburse the expenses "for wasted firefighters' time."
This occurred after Storm Bram hit Britain, with winds reaching 132 km/h (82 mph). In some areas, streets were completely flooded, piers collapsed, and trucks overturned.
In York, streets along the River Ouse were flooded, reaching businesses and homes.
Forecasters have warned Britons of heavy rain this weekend. The Met Office also warned that washouts could cause power outages, transport delays, and "deep and fast-flowing" floodwaters that could be life-threatening. ![]()
