Dramatic Moment: Rescuing Cats from a Fire (4 photos + 1 video)
On Friday, news broke of a California firefighter's heroic act. Footage showed him rushing into a burning apartment to rescue a ginger and black cat. The rescuer waded through thick smoke in search of the first cat, who was meowing in despair.
Grabbing the ginger cat, he escaped the burning house unharmed. The firefighter returned to the fire to rescue the second furry feline, who had hidden under the bed.
The black cat is visibly foaming at the mouth. This could be a reaction to stress or heat. However, the department reported that the pair are recovering.
Both cats and their owners escaped the fire.
"Two cats and their owners are recovering after an apartment fire in Santa Ana," the fire department reported. "The quick actions of firefighters not only saved the animals but also stopped the fire from spreading, preventing damage to other rooms."
The cause of the fire has not been disclosed, but the department shared safety tips on social media, such as turning off kitchen appliances before leaving the house.
The video has sparked a storm of emotions on social media. "You're risking your lives for these furry little creatures, and that makes you true heroes! "All lives matter," one user wrote.
Another joked, "I'm willing to pay double the taxes for this service."
