A Chinese humanoid robot has entered the Guinness Book of World Records by walking over 100 kilometers in three days. According to media reports, this is the longest distance ever covered by an android.
The A2 robot, created by the Chinese tech company AgiBot, set a Guinness World Record by walking a 106-kilometer route between two provinces, according to the Global Times.
According to the developers, A2 completed the entire journey without shutting down thanks to a hot-swappable battery system, which ensured continuous operation throughout the entire test. During the journey, the robot navigated city streets, tourist areas, and national and provincial highways, traversing various types of surfaces.
The route included low-light sections, but navigation was provided by two GPS modules, lidars, and infrared depth cameras. The company noted that the robot complied with traffic regulations throughout the entire journey.
According to AgiBot Senior Vice President Wang Chuang, the test was aimed at demonstrating the stability and reliability of humanoid robotics technology. He noted that while covering such a distance in one go is challenging for many people, the robot successfully completed the task. A company representative emphasized that the model used was a standard commercial device with no customizations.
Despite the prolonged load, the robot completed the route in good condition. The only noticeable consequence was slight wear on the rubber soles of its feet.
