The victim suffered multiple fractures.
A 61-year-old man was pulled into an MRI machine by a massive chain around his neck at a medical center in Westbury, New York.
According to local police, the incident occurred on the morning of July 16. The victim entered the room while the scan was being performed, causing him to be pulled into the machine. Immediately after the incident, the man was taken to the hospital with multiple fractures, but doctors were unable to save him.
The very door with a warning that should not have been opened
As noted by the media, the victim was not a patient, he entered the office without permission to find out what was happening to his relative, who suddenly began to scream. And in the end, he became a victim of his own carelessness. The state police are conducting an investigation, but it is obvious that the medical center employees have nothing to punish for.
We will add that the MRI machine for scanning uses a powerful magnetic field, the strength of which can reach 1.5-3 Tesla. This is approximately 50 thousand times stronger than the Earth's magnetic field. Before the scanning procedure, each patient is reminded that they must remove all metal objects, such as rings and chains.
UPD: as Sky News clarifies, the metal chain on the deceased's neck weighed 9 kilograms and was intended for strength training.
