Spaniard rams ATM after not receiving cash (5 photos + 1 video)
The surreal scene took place around noon on November 12 at a branch of the La Caixa bank in Malaga on the Costa del Sol, Spain. A man rammed his car into an ATM several times because it “wouldn’t give him money.”
The Spaniard can be seen smiling as he crashes into the ATM, drives back a few meters and then accelerates again and again.
According to eyewitnesses, the man warned passers-by to get out of the way. All this action lasted about 10 minutes. As the rowdy himself stated, he was overcome with anger because he could not withdraw cash.
Police have confirmed they have arrested the driver who broke an ATM in the Ciudad Jardín area of Malaga on suspicion of criminal damage and robbery. He passed an alcohol and drug test.
The man, who has not been named, claims he was desperate because he did not have money to feed his children.
“Police officers detained a man for causing damage and robbery by ramming,” a Malaga law enforcement official said.
He added: "The incident occurred on Sunday at 12.30pm in the Ciudad Jardin area of Malaga, the suspect was attempting to rob a bank. Police have identified witnesses, including a man who was using an ATM when the driver asked him to move out of the way and then crashed into the machine several times "No alcohol or drugs were found in the detainee's possession. The car he was driving was towed."
