Mads Mikkelsen, 21, arrived at Newark Airport in New Jersey. But when border control found memes featuring the US vice president on his phone, he was sent to a cell, ruining his vacation.
Mads Mikkelsen arrived in the US on June 11 looking forward to a vacation, but as he described to Norwegian journalists, immigration officials "abused their power" when they found the memes.
"They asked questions about drug trafficking, terrorist plots and right-wing extremism for no reason," he told the publication.
Mikkelsen said officers threatened him with a $5,000 fine or five years in prison if he refused to give up his mobile phone password.
The guards reportedly found a meme of US Vice President J.D. Vance with a bald, egg-shaped head in the device's camera footage. The Norwegian was sent home that same day.
