They decided to renovate their house. The couple found a safe in the kitchen floor...
An American couple renovating their home in Phoenix discovered $50,000 hidden in a safe in the floor, as well as several strange clues leading to a specific location. Eddie and Angie wrote about their incredible discovery on their blog. They moved into the house two years ago, but only now got around to renovating the kitchen. To their surprise, they found a safe in the floor.
“When we moved in, we found the code for the safe in the medicine cabinet, but then we never found the safe. But I saved the code anyway. The safe itself looks like it’s 10-20 years old,” the American wrote.
After several attempts, they were able to open the safe. Inside was a bottle of James E Pepper bourbon, $51,080, and a book. The bottle was marked with a six-year aging and a bottling date of 1960.
“The book turned out (and still remains so) more mysterious. E. F. Schumacher, A Guide for the Perplexed, published 1977,” she wrote. They soon discovered strange clues and riddles on pages 1, 7, 11 and 14 that led to a specific location. On the first page there was a photo of a young man. On the back is the following message: “Alan, I have a book that you must read. I have underlined key paragraphs. Your friend, Vincent."
On page seven, the couple found what looked like a postcard bookmark with the state of Arizona. The area near Mesa was highlighted with a cross on the map.
The following paragraph was also highlighted on page seven: “One way to look at the world is to use a map, that is, to have some kind of plan or sketch that shows where something can be found.”
On page 11 there was a photo of the house with the caption: “a rich harvest was obtained there.” The photo itself shows a tree with three trunks. The message reads: “Where one tree becomes three.”

On page 14 the paragraph is underlined: “The majority of modern readers refuse to believe that ideal happiness can be achieved in ways of which the modern world knows nothing.”
Additionally, there were three numbers circled on the Bingo card.
The couple doesn't know what they will do with the money.
“If Alan is still there, then this is all his. But we’ll just leave the bourbon!” the girl wrote.
According to their information, the house has had six owners throughout its history. It is unlikely that the last of them - a lover of cigarettes and cats - has anything to do with the safe, the girl believes.
With the help of social networks, they hope to find the mysterious house in the photo, and maybe Alan himself.
