The couple and their maid set up camp in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire, Scotland, where they founded the "Kingdom of Kubala". The couple believe they are part of a lost African tribe.

King Atehehe, his queen Nandi and their maid Asnat initially settled in the Scottish Borders County Council area, but were given eviction notices. The trio said their tents were burned down by locals.

"Everything was burnt to the ground. We lost everything except the clothes we were wearing."

They then moved to a new location near the school.

The self-proclaimed monarch is often seen outside the nearby Co-op, using the free Wi-Fi.

The tribe settled in Scotland, having crossed the border from Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham.

The king, whose real name is Kofi Offe, is 36 and is from Ghana, while Queen Nandi is Jean Gasho, who is originally from Zimbabwe.

Gachot, 42, said in a blog post that Buckingham Palace had ordered her arrest to ensure the safety of Charles's coronation in 2023.

The couple, accused of child abuse, were due to stand trial, but all charges were dropped this year.

Asnat's maid is Kaura Taylor from Texas. Her family reported her missing, but in a video message, the American said: "It is obvious to the British authorities that I am not missing. Leave me alone. I am a grown man, not a helpless child."

The band claims that Offeh is a descendant of King David and that the biblical Zion was not in the Middle East, as is commonly believed, but in Scotland.

In one of the videos, Gasho fans Offeh with a peacock feather and says, "Long live the King of the North, long live the Messiah... Holy seed of David. You are the chosen one. The one who brought us to the promised land, here in the holy land of Scotland."

He replies, "It's time to free the captives and bring them home. It's time for the blacks to take over in Kubala."

In another video, a woman says: "If you're not living in the Tabernacle today, if it's not your thing... Then you're not one of the chosen ones, and there's no place for you in the new world. The old world is gone."

A spokesman for the Scottish Borders County Council said the authority was "working with the police" over the situation.

He said: "We've been providing advice and information about housing and other support."

Locals have mixed feelings about the Kubalans, with one saying: "They seem nice, but it's still worrying. We don't know much about their culture."

"Their claim to this land is what irritates everyone," said Keith Williamson, 54.

The council offered the royal couple a house, but they turned it down.
