Last Friday, on Olomoucka Street in Sternberk, Czech police officers tried to stop a Skoda to check its documents. The driver decided to flee. A chase ensued, which was interrupted by a train.
The 31-year-old driver and his passenger, who is the owner of the car, survived and were taken to hospital. The driver was sober, but tested positive for amphetamine/methamphetamine, and now faces a prison sentence of six months to four years or a fine for causing serious bodily harm through negligence.
The 33-year-old passenger-owner, who suffered serious injuries, also admitted that he was supposed to start serving his sentence that day (for what crime is not specified), but it did not work out.
