A tourist mistook a live crocodile for a fake and ended up in its mouth (7 photos + 1 video)
A 29-year-old visitor mistook a 4.5-metre-long reptile for a statue at a zoo in the southern Philippines. The man climbed into the enclosure and then pulled out his smartphone with a grin.
Terrified onlookers screamed at him to leave. The enraged female crocodile lunged at the intruder and sank her fangs into his arm.
The terrifying footage shows a tourist screaming in pain as he is unable to escape from his enclosure in Zamboanga Sibugay. The predator, named Lalai, grabbed the victim by the thigh and turned him over several times, trying to tear him apart.
The man spent 30 minutes in agony before the keeper, risking his own life, climbed inside and saved him. The trainer hit the reptile on the head, which caused it to loosen its grip.
The tourist was taken to hospital where he received more than 50 stitches.

Police Sergeant Joel Sajolga of the Siay Municipal Police said: "The tourist was walking around the area when he spotted the crocodile. He thought it was just a plastic figure. He climbed over the fence, went into the enclosure and the crocodile attacked him."
The police officer noted that there were several staff members at the Kabug Mangrove Park and Wetlands Zoo, but they were unable to stop the man.
He warned: "This behaviour is extremely dangerous. It is forbidden to enter the animal enclosures at the zoo. He put other people at risk by his actions and he is lucky to be alive."

Locals who witnessed the reckless act reported that the tourist climbed into the shallow pool to take a photo with the reptile.
Kanyete Tse said: "I don't understand why he did it, but I'm glad he survived. The crocodile just let him go. His leg is not broken, but there are wounds on his arm and thigh."
