A robber attacked undercover police officers
In England, undercover police officers arrested a robber and his accomplices. The moment the two criminals were detained was captured on video.
The undercover agents, whose names have not been disclosed, posed as a wealthy couple, walking around in designer clothes and with luxurious accessories. Their goal was to draw out the robbers operating in central London. The plan worked: 21-year-old Jacob Harket tried to snatch a replica Patek Philippe Rose Gold watch from the hand of a female officer in Berkeley Square.
When her partner in a suit tried to detain the criminal, he ran away, but his two accomplices - 34-year-old Mohammed Naas and 31-year-old Adel Mohamdi - were captured by the police. Harket himself was detained a little later.
At Southwark Crown Court, Harket pleaded guilty and Naas was found guilty by a jury after a three-day trial. Two other suspects, 37-year-old Yanis Amri and Adel Mohamdi, were convicted in absentia after absconding.
The court also examined CCTV footage showing the men following the "couple" from Berkeley Square to Hayes Mews. Naas tried to defend himself by claiming he "just happened to be there", but his phone data proved otherwise.
