Rarest Alfa Romeo SZ Trofeo is sold for 185 thousand euros (10 photos)

A very curious Alfa Romeo SZ coupe in the Trofeo modification, which was built for a touring mono-series that became a support race for Formula 1 in the 1990s, has been put up for sale in Germany.





This particular example was assembled in 1993. The two-door car made its debut at the Monaco Grand Prix, and later the car took part in the local Supercar GT series. After finishing its racing career, the SZ Trofeo fell into the hands of the Italian Formula 1 pilot Andrea De Adamic, who decided that the two-door with an extremely unusual appearance and unruly character, and also equipped with a safety cage in the cabin, would be an excellent car for every day.

The racer owned the car for ten years, but, judging by the odometer readings, he did not drive it very much. To date, the Alfa Romeo has only covered 22,000 kilometers. The next owner of the SZ Trofeo was a Dutch collector who registered the car in Germany. In his hands, the coupe was often chosen for track days, including under the control of the famous rally driver Walter Röhrl. He had a chance to drive the Alfa on the Austrian Red Bull Ring.

The rear-wheel drive Alfa Romeo SZ Trofeo is powered by a 3-liter naturally aspirated V6, paired with a 5-speed manual. The exact output of the engine in the Trofeo version was not announced, but it is assumed that it is not much different from the standard civilian modification, which produced 210 hp and 245 Nm.

They intend to get 185 thousand euros for the SZ Trofeo. The amount is quite large, but it is worth considering that even the usual two-door SZ is an extremely rare car. A total of 1,036 copies were produced, while cars with the Trofeo prefix were built only 13.
