The most expensive Christmas tree in the world is made of pure gold (4 photos)
Some viewers have called this work of jewellery rather dubious, given the rising cost of living in recent years.
The world's most expensive Christmas tree has been unveiled in Germany. The tree, three metres high and weighing 60 kilograms, was made by the Munich company Pro Aurum. It consists of 2,024 gold coins, of which the largest (24-carat) is placed at the top instead of the traditional star or angel. The symbol of the upcoming holiday is estimated to cost £4 million.
The tree is reportedly not for sale because it is intended to showcase gold's timeless value as a precious metal, rather than to attract potential buyers. Benjamin Suma, a spokesman for Pro Aurum, praised the creation: "The gold tree illustrates the timelessness of this precious metal."
Some viewers call this piece of jewelry rather questionable, given the rising cost of living in recent years.
However, this is far from the first time that a Christmas tree has caused controversy or scandal. Festive trees installed in different parts of the world often border on luxury and absurdity.
