More than 20 people are stuck at an attraction in California
More than 20 guests at Knott’s Berry Farm, an amusement park in Southern California, were left suspended in midair on the Sol Spin ride after a mechanical malfunction.
According to a park spokesperson, the problem began around 2 p.m. when the ride suddenly stopped, leaving 22 guests suspended more than six stories in the air. More than two hours later, at 4:30 p.m., they were safely evacuated following procedures established by the ride’s manufacturer and the park.
Two women on the ride were taken to the hospital “as a precaution,” the AP reported. Video footage from the scene showed some passengers staggering from the stress of their ride when they finally reached the ground. County fire officials said they were on standby at the park while park staff worked to rescue passengers.
