Pilots Sue Boeing: The Story of Flight AS 1282 (4 photos + 1 video)
While you are sipping your morning coffee and scrolling through your feed, a real aviation scandal has broken out in the legal world: the crew of Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 has filed a lawsuit against Boeing. Yes, you understood correctly, not the passengers, but the pilots and flight attendants who survived the emergency. 
On January 5, 2024, a Boeing 737MAX9 took off from Portland. At an altitude of about 16,000 feet (≈4,800 m), a panel came off the plane and the wall of the plane simply fell off. By the way, we wrote about this.
There were 171 passengers and 6 crew members on board. The plane returned safely, three passengers and one flight attendant suffered minor bruises. But the crew suffered the most - physical and mental injuries, stress and financial losses. These guys became the first group to file lawsuits specifically for Boeing's systemic negligence.

But passengers have already filed class action lawsuits against Boeing and Alaska — about 59 people filed three lawsuits, the third in February 2024 with a claim for $1 billion.

The NTSB also did not let Boeing write it off as force majeure: the investigation showed that four bolts holding the "plug" door were removed and not returned during assembly, and neither the FAA nor Boeing could document how this happened.
Against this backdrop, the US Department of Justice has opened a criminal investigation, while the FAA and trade unions are pushing for reforms with one hand and threatening Boeing with new inspections with the other. You know what they did to scare the hedgehog.
By the way, three passengers who filed a $1 billion lawsuit have already received payments, but the amount is not disclosed. The case is closed and cannot be appealed.
