Geely Unveils the Galaxy Mid-Size Hybrid SUV Starship 7 (12 photos)

The Geely concern has released official images of the new crossover, which was named Galaxy Starship 7. The premiere was only visual, the technical characteristics are still kept secret, but some things are already known from the certification process.





Starship 7 is based on the global GEA platform. Its dimensions are 4740×1905×1685 mm with a wheelbase of 2755 mm, which makes the new product comparable in size, for example, with the Hyundai Santa Fe. The highlights of the exterior design should be the X-shaped design of the front bumper and unusual lighting, the interior uses an angular two-spoke steering wheel, very narrow air ducts of the ventilation system and speakers built into the front panel. It is noteworthy that Starship 7 was not deprived of all physical buttons and controls.

The basis of the crossover's power plant will be a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine with 112 horsepower, the output of the electric component is not yet known. Buyers will be able to choose between two versions with different battery capacities. The five-door will receive lithium-iron-phosphate batteries for 19.09 and 28.94 kW h, with which it will travel, without using the gasoline engine, 101 and 150 km, respectively. The declared fuel consumption is 4.9 liters per hundred.

The total range of the Starship 7 is not specified, but Geely has previously announced the imminent launch of a new hybrid system, NordThor. It should be the concern's response to BYD's recent new product, the fifth-generation DM-i, which is distinguished by increased energy efficiency. NordThor is also claimed to have improved efficiency and reduced fuel consumption along with an increased range. Starship 7 was named as one of the candidates for the first use of this system.
